We doubled up on the road and gravel. Got atrocious weather for the road which made it even harder – the wind at the top of Tan Hill and Buttertubs was ferocious. The Sunday was my first gravel event and what a glorious route – particularly up and over the quarry – stunning! Tough indeed, but the clue is in the name – it’s a struggle not a snuggle! Chapeau to Victoria, Matt and all the volunteers. Superbly organised!
Simply fabulous routes. Thanks. The ‘struggle’ element is perhaps a little underplayed – even without the conditions we had on Saturday. Sunday’s gravel route was magnificent (at least the bit I managed before a ride ending flat: many many thanks to riders 1121 and 1143(?) for their truly much appreciated generous help). It was very very challenging albeit with the stupendous vast views and lovely dales to look down on. Thanks to all.

I’ve done x5 UK top ‘monument’ sportive this including Fred and Dragon. The Struggle Borderlands gravel is right up there as one of iconic must do events

An absolutely stunning route and really well organised with marshals in all the right places. The Struggle team were super-friendly throughout and very helpful. The photography is brilliant too, and all included! Nice to be based at the Dales Bike Centre for food and coffee afterwards. Thank you, definitely inspired to do more.
