If you haven't cycled in the rural and rugged landscape of the Lancashire hills, join us for the Lancashire Lloyds Tour of Britain Ride The Route tracing stage 2 of the women's race.
Waddington Fell
Commonly Waddington Fell is climbed south to north from the Waddington side, which boasts a long yet constant gradient. We’re taking on this climb from the Newton-in-Bowland side (north to south). While shorter (3.5km), it features pitches of 10% and 11% at the bottom, middle and top. This is a climb that will have you in and out of the saddle. Use your climbing gears on the steeper gradients and pace your effort here. There is still plenty of climbing in the kilometres ahead.

Nick of Pendle
Nick of Pendle is an iconic cycling climb that traverses over the landscape south of Pendle Hill. Its rugged summit cuts through the stunning Lancashire scenery. Thankfully we’re taking on the steadier slopes from Pendleton up the Nick of Pendle, which is just short of 2km at 7.6%, rather than the Sabden side with it’s 11% average that would have you in the red all the way up.

Jeffrey Hill
Giving you more bang for your buck, the long route takes you over two extra iconic Lancashire climbs called Jeffrey Hill and Birdy Brow. When the pros reach more urban roads as they head towards Blackpool, our route will turn us on our heels (or wheels) and head back on rural Lancashire cycling lanes. Not for the faint hearted, Jeffrey Hill in the long route will have you working hard to conquer its 3km climb with pitches of 16%.

Birdy Brow
Short (1.9km) and sweet (9.5%), Birdy Brow is the sting in the tale. A classic Struggle final ascent before the run-in back to Stonyhurst College and a well earned burger and beer.
