PRE-RIDE

Join us pre-ride for morning coffee, networking and to meet your fellow riders. Our expert mechanic will be on hand to assist with any minor mechanicals before you set out on the route.

Once you've signed on and collected your number we'll hold a safety briefing. We'll then set off in small groups, so that you can enjoy riding with other like-minded riders.

ABOUT THE ROUTES

The UKREiiF Sportif offers 25km, 70km and 90km route options, making it an inclusive challenge for all abilities.

The 25km short route takes riders on a scenic spin around quiet lanes surrounding Harrogate and is ideal for all abilities on any bike.

The 70km medium route and the 90km long route takes riders into Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). It's an awesome ride that challenges riders to the iconic Yorkshire climb of Two Stoops from Pateley Bridge. The long route then continues into the picturesque Wharfe Valley before heading back to Harrogate.

FEED STOP

We'll stop en route to refuel at our very own Feed Station. We'll grab some snacks, fill our pockets with sports nutrition and refill our water bottles ready to take on the second half of the ride. Our team have tried and tested every bar and gel on the market, and believe we've found Maurten and Velofore are the best products to get your around the route in great shape.

MECHANICAL SUPPORT

Pre-ride bike checks will be available during the morning by our expert pro-level mechanic. We'll then be supported throughout the ride, ensuring no one suffers a mechanical failure and everyone completes the ride.

About Yorkshire Children's Charity

Yorkshire Children’s Charity are delighted to be the beneficiaries again of the UKREiiF Charity Cycle Ride. The property sector played an integral part in our fundraising last year through our 'The Yorkshires.' awards events, so we are really excited to be involved in this fringe event for the UKREiiF.

Yorkshire Children’s Charity support children and young people across Yorkshire living at a disadvantage, be that due to sickness, disability, or financial deprivation and it is only through the support and generosity of the Yorkshire community that we are able to make things better for our beneficiaries. Funds raised at this cycling sportive will go towards our next Great Yorkshire Build project, transforming the facilities of an SEND school, not only for its pupils now but for generations to come.

"What a route, what an event. Well marked, great feed station with top notch gels and bars, brilliant pre and post atmosphere. These big rides are much better when part of an event, when you share your experience with others, it drives you on all the more and I’ll certainly be back."

Frequently Asked Questions

Event Info

What support is on the route?

Our roving mechanics are on hand to get you back on the route should you have an issue. We do however recommend everyone knows how to repair a puncture and come equipt with the tools and spares to do so. We also have marshals throughout the route, roving medical support and well-stocked feed stops and a broomwagon. Our friendly team is there to ensure you succeed in completing your Struggle challenge.

What is at the feed stops?

Our feed stops are really well stocked with the best sports nutrition on the market from Maurten. We also have super-taster energy bars from Veloforte (vegan and gluten-free but contains nuts). There's also bananas and other grab-and-go snacks like coconut macaroons, Battenberg and Soreen. Our final feeds always have our locally sourced Lishmans Pork Pies, Maurten caffeine gels and mini cans of Coca Cola for the final push for home.

How fit do I need to be?

Struggle Dales is achieveable for any ambitious road cyclist. That said, it requires prior training and preparation. With sensible pacing, optimal fuelling, proper preparation and plenty of courage, its a challenging goal worthy of the hard work.

What are the cut off times?

There are cut off times but these are very generous to encourage everyone to make it around the route. We suggest steadier riders sign-on the day before and start as early as possible.

What is at the start/finish?

There is ample free parking at the start and finish and toilet facilities. There is a coffee van serving up a pre-ride caffeine kick and we have post ride nosh and beers at the finish. There is no running water or showers, so please come with your water bottles pre-filled.

Where can I stay?

The start/finish is just a few miles from Harrogate Town Centre, where there is a host of hotels and B&Bs to suit all budgets. I'm afraid there is no camping/campervans allowed to stay overnight at the Army Foundation College.

Cancellation/Defers

Can I cancel my entry?

I'm afraid we cannot cancel your place if you have entered. You can however transfer or defer your place. See below...
